QUESTION: I was looking for some help on what type of wild berry if so this is. When I pulled one of these plants up it soaked my leather gloves all the way through and stained my hands. I am located in Bastrop County,Tx.

ANSWER: The plant is Pokeweed or Pokeberry (Phytolacca americana). The berries are said to be poisonous. The leaves are poisonous too unless cooked properly. This is the plant that folks in the Southeastern U.S. use to make Poke Salad.
