LAVENDER BLUE POTPOURRI

2 cups (500 ml) dried lavender flowers
1/2 cup (125 ml) blue pansies
1 cup (250 ml) white rose petals
2 tbsp. powdered orris root
1/2 cup (125 ml) bachelors button flower heads
4-5 drops lavender essential oil

Combine ingredients in a very large bowl. Mix with your hands, turning the materials over and over until well blended. Place in an air-tight container in a dark, cool place and allow to mellow for 6 weeks. To make sure the scents blend well, shake or mix every few days. After 6 weeks the potpourri is ready to use and can be put into sachet bags, left in an open dish, or placed in a specially designed potpourri container. Potpourri will lose its scent more quickly if left in an open dish.
