English or Sugarpod Pea

Q. The last time I grew English peas, the foliage became covered with a white, powdery material.

A. This was powdery mildew, a serious problem on English and Sugar pod peas. There is no chemical, other than sulfur, cleared for the control of this disease. Repeated applications will be required to control the mildew. Products containing benomyl are used on other crops to control powdery mildew.

Q. What are Sugar Snap peas?

A. Sugar Snaps are a variety of edible-podded English peas that produce more reliably than regular English peas.

Q. Why won't my peas yield?

A. Soil alkalinity, planting too late, hot weather, or planting wrong variety are all possible causes.
