Chinese Kale

Description - The edible flower stalk and terminal leaves with stem 7-9 inches long is used in oriental dishes.

Culture - Grows best in the cool weather of fall, winter and spring but will tolerate warm temperatures into summer. Sow seed with two drills per row later thinning to 3-4 plants per foot. Plants will be ready for harvest in 60-70 days.

Selection - Well fertilized plants will have thickened stems to 3/4 inch in diameter. Cut 7 to 9 inches long leaving terminal leaves intact. Tie 3-4 stems in bunches. Store at 32 to 45 degrees F. with 85 per cent humidity to maintain freshness.
